Volunteer with Inclusive Mosque

Join us for Ramadan 2025

We’re holding an online volunteers meet-up on Tuesday 26th November, 6pm-7pm. Register for the zoom link via Eventbrite to find out more about volunteering with Inclusive Mosque.

Every year we try to put on weekly events during Ramadan that embody a Feminist Islam and provide an alternative to patriarchal norms. But the Ramadan programme requires a lot of hands on deck, especially to make our sure all our events are hybrid. Do you have time to help out and make this the most memorable Ramadan yet? We’ve got a range of volunteer roles including welcoming new people in-person and online, moderating the online chat, laying out food and drink, testing the tech, helping clear away and more. So you’re likely to find something that suits you and the time you can give. You must be 18 years old or older to volunteer.

At this online meet up we’ll run through what happens at Inclusive Mosque behind the events, talk you through the volunteer roles available during Ramadan and discuss your thoughts and ideas on what would make this a really memorable and safe Ramadan for you and the Inclusive Mosque community you’re supporting.

Please register for free for the zoom link which we’ll send to you a couple of days before the meet up.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I want to volunteer but I won’t be able to make this meet-up, can I still volunteer?

Yes, fill out this form and we’ll arrange a time to have a chat.

Can I volunteer if I’m not in London?

Yes. All our events are online or hybrid (in-person and online) so you can volunteer from home.

What are the volunteer roles available and what is the time commitment?

Welcoming people (online and/or in-person) – 40 minutes per event

Laying out food at iftars (in-person)– 10-15 minutes per event

Clearing away (in-person) – 20 minutes per event

Laying out and clearing away prayer mats (in-person) – 10-15 minutes per event

Food collection and delivery (in-person) – 75 mins per event (you’ll need to have your own car for this one)
We are looking for volunteers who have cars and are willing to collect and drop off the food we order for Iftars in London. You can claim volunteer expenses at 45p per mile travelled.

Closing the event with a du’a (online and/or in-person)– 25 minutes prep time 2 minutes delivery time.

Other ideas – we’re interested in your ideas about how you can be involved in IMI events, especially if you’re volunteering online.

I’m happy to volunteer but I’m mostly interested in making friends. Will you be having more volunteer meet ups?

The volunteer meet ups in the run up to Ramadan will focus on practical tasks that need doing so these volunteer roles are not well suited to folks who are primarily interested in making new friends. But do come along to the events during Ramadan, you’ll meet new people there.

I’m disabled and/or chronically ill, I’d like to volunteer but I might not be able to turn up on the day of the event.

We don’t want anyone to worry about this. Our aim is to have enough volunteers available so that if you need to cancel on the day because you’re not feeling well enough to volunteer someone will pick up the task you signed up for. Volunteers can absolutely cancel on the day and not worry about letting anyone down.

Can I do more than volunteer during Ramadan?

Yes. Let’s talk about your ideas at the meet up.

Are there any perks to volunteering?
You’ll get a snazzy lanyard and you can attend all our events for free. The main draw for a lot of volunteers is being part of building a feminist mosque in the UK. What we’re doing will be an important part of Islamic and Feminist history and a great opportunity to connect with Muslims who want to see the end of patriarchy, racism, ableism, sectarianism and transphobia and queerphobia in Muslim communities and beyond.

Can I volunteer anonymously?

No. We understand that some people attend IMI anonymously for their own safety. However, we have strict safeguarding protocols for the safety of the whole community and we need to know who our volunteers are and ensure they are willing to comply with our volunteer agreement so we cannot have anonymous volunteers.

Can you cover childcare or carer costs so I can volunteer?

No. Unfortunately we’re not yet in a financial position to offer childcare or carer costs to folks who have caring responsibilities. We are working hard on our donations strategy and growing our income streams so that we can do this.
