Feminist Community Majlis

Online

6.30pm – 8.30pm

Tickets available via Eventbrite

Join the Inclusive Mosque community for an online discussion about the events of Karbala, the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (as) and the beloved Ahlul Bayt, may Allah be pleased with them. We will use this time to honour the lives of Ahlul Bayt, their place in our Islamic heritage and the lessons they have given us to practice today. This discussion will be a place for mourning, remembrance and inshallah some communal healing. We will reflect on the themes of justice and injustice, oppression and liberation. Importantly, we invite you all to bring a reading, a reflection or a question to share on these themes. Register online for the Zoom link

This is a participatory group discussion so please come prepared to contribute your thoughts and we will prioritise women, genderqueer people, disabled, Black and Shia Muslims who are so frequently marginalised in mosques.

Content Note: We will likely be discussing experiences of religious trauma, ableism, and exclusion, invalidation and violence experienced by people with mental health conditions. We will be sharing the testimonies of survivors of massacres and sharing graphic details about murders and deaths by starvation and dehydration. Please take care of yourselves and only attend if you have some support to process such a heavy topic.
