This year marks the 43rd Arba’een Procession through central London. A group of IMI volunteers will be gathering beforehand to talk through the relevance of the Arba’een walk in Karbala. You are invited to join us at Coffee by Real Eating Co near Marble Arch for a discussion on the history and the themes of the Arba’een Walk. We’ll talk about love of Imam Hussain (ra) and the role of pilgrimage in Islam. This is a group discussion with no main speaker. Some of us will then join the Arba’een procession to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his followers.

The Arba’een Procession honours the Arba’een walk from Najar to Karbala where pilgrims mark the end of the mourning period that marks the death of Imam Hussain and many members of the Prophet (saw)’s family. If you’d like to join the IMI group of attendees, we’re meeting at Coffee by Real Eating Co near Marble Arch station in London. There’s no need to register with IMI, just meet us at the café.

Please see the organiser’s website for information on the march itself including information on their expectations of attendees and areas of the procession that will be gender segregated. We will be joining the non-segregated section at the back of the procession. The organisers have reassured us that wheelchair users regularly attend the procession and that there will be disabled access toilets available at Marble Arch where there will also be food and stalls. Looking forward to seeing some IMI folks on the day. Please do check Arbaeen UK for the route and more information.  Make du’a for no rain on the day!

PLEASE NOTE: The Arba’een Procession is organised by Hussaini Islamic Trust UK, Inclusive Mosque is not the organiser of the event. We are simply attending as a group. Please be aware that for any procession to take place through central London, there will be police presence and Hussaini Islamic Trust UK are working with Westminster Council and the Metropolitan Police to arrange the logistics of the event.
