Raise Your Gaze – Islamic Feminisms in Focus

Join us for an afternoon of talks, workshops and discussions exploring Islamic feminism(s) through the lenses of anti-racism, anti-imperialism, Black feminism, class, and queer theory.

We will explore:

  • How we can learn from Islamic feminism(s) in theory and practice (then and now)
  • How our feminism can draw on various liberation struggles to articulate and heal from the injustices we face
  • How we can we build resilience and resistance to state violence and the way its patterns are repeated inside of our communities

Book your ticket (£5) with your preferred workshop – spaces are limited and on a first come first serve basis. Please note the workshops will be running at the same time, so you will only be able to attend one of them. However, we’ll be sharing resources from all workshops soon.

We will start promptly at 11am, so please arrive early to check your tickets and find a seat.

BSL interpreters will be available on the day.

There will be an induction loop on the day.

The entire venue is wheelchair accessible, and there is a wheelchair accessible bathroom.

All bathrooms are gender-neutral.

Lunch and refreshments will be vegetarian and vegan.

Children and babies are welcome.

Amina Wadud’s talk will be recorded and transcribed, and we’re working on a livestream. The workshops however won’t be recorded or livestreamed.

The closest station is Liverpool Street (on the Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan underground, as well as London Overground and National Rail services. It has step-free access.

Buses 8, 26, 35, 47, 48, 149, 242, and 344 all stop just outside the venue.
